Phil was admitted to practice in 1983. From 1990 he practiced in a partnership and then as a sole practitioner in the Adelaide Hills where he resides. He became a sought after lawyer in the region for property, leasing and commercial matters. Throughout the 1990s Phil became involved in Liquor Licensing and Hospitality and quickly became a leading practitioner in this field following numerous client referrals. Phil joined Clelands in January 2019.

Phil places great value on the relationship he has with his clients and assists them as a trusted advisor. He invests the time to develop a deep understanding of how they operate their businesses and seeks to bring a practical and big picture approach to the matters with which he is entrusted.

  • Bachelor of Laws, University of Adelaide (1983)
  • Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice, South Australian Institute of Technology (1984)

  • Leasing and financing for hotels and other licensed premises
  • Property Law including commercial leasing, commercial and residential transactions, financing, developments, land divisions and community titles
  • General commercial law advice that includes implementing operational structures, negotiation, preparation of contracts and other documentation
  • Wills, succession planning, probate and administration of deceased estates

Outside of Clelands

Phil is a keen musician playing regularly in two bands and when he is not playing or practicing he enjoys time with family and friends, working in the garden or blowing off the cobwebs on one of his motorcycles.
